Reasoning with people is a big part of Paul’s evangelism strategy. Paul’s reputation and message spreads until all of Asia hears the gospel. Paul and Silas are singing in prison when an earthquake opens all the doors. A jailer wants to kill himself but ends up baptizing his family instead. They go back to the prison but Paul has a plan to put fear into the authorities and secure their release. We are introduced to a man named Jason who helps Paul and Silas escape persecution brought on by false accusations. And is the church an institution or a movement? Paul and Barnabas separate in a dispute over John Mark. Timothy is introduced and for some reason Paul has him circumcised. God tells them not to preach in Asia. Peter is miraculously freed from prison. The church had been praying for it but doesn't believe it when it happens. Herod freaks out and kills a group of guards. The people treat Herod as a God and God makes him worm food. There is a huge emphasis on the word of God being the means of faith. Paul and Barnabas are sent out. Saul is "ravaging" the church but the gospel is spreading. A magician is converted and baptized but then tries to buy the power of God. The Holy Spirit is mysteriously absent in Samaria until the Apostles arrive and Philip encounters a eunuch from Ethiopia reading Isaiah. After going right back out and preaching, they are arrested again and brought before a council where they preach monergistic repentance and salvation to their enemies.
